EBONY GRISSETT-DELGADO

Ebony developed a love of dance at a very early age.  She trained throughout her childhood and adolescence in the areas of ballet, tap, jazz and pointe with Dance Showcase in Shallotte, NC and North Myrtle Beach, SC.  Ebony attended UNC-Chapel Hill and received her B.A. degree in Afro-American Studies.  While at UNC-Chapel Hill, Ebony was part of the High Kickin' Heels Dance Team as well as the OPEYO! dancers.  She served as choreographer for the semi-professional Durham Storm Cheerleaders in the late 1990's.  Ebony also worked as an acrobatics and dance instructor in the triangle and triad area with Tap and Tumble.

In 1998, Ebony joined the teaching staff at Brittany's Dance Studio in Chapel Hill, NC.  She continued to teach with Brittany's and eventually served as assistant director until the studio closed it's doors and relocated to Charlotte in 2005.  Ebony also served as assistant director and master class instructor with The Dancer's Spotlight for several years.

In the fall of 2008, Ebony decided to start her own dance company, and this is where Chatham Dance Connection began.  She started the program with about 25 students in a local after school program in Pittsboro and has seen the program grow to over 100 students, now housed in a cozy family oriented studio in the heart of Pittsboro.  Her love of children and dedication to quality dance education continues to be the heart of the dance program at Chatham Dance Connection.

Ebony was a featured dancer in recording artist, Sam Fisher's, music video, "People Living".  She had a chance to work with other professional dancers and hold open casting calls for the video shoot.

In addition to teaching dance at her studio, Ebony enjoys coaching.  She served as the Head Coach of the East Chatham Chargers 5/6 Cheer Squad for two years and served as assistant coach of the Northwood High School Dance Team for three seasons.  Ebony is currently the Head Coach of the Northwood High School Dance Team for the fourth season.  You might also spot Ebony in one of our local Chatham County Schools classrooms as a substitute teacher.  She enjoyed her time with Northwood High School as a long term sub in the dance department.

Ebony lives in Pittsboro with her husband Del.  Together they have six children and one granddaughter.
